Can you believe it’s already March, and there was a snowstorm just last week in New York? I used to find it hard to dress both warm and stylish for an unpredictable winter. I’d buy new clothes when I got bored or didn’t know what to wear. For the past year, I’ve been trying to minimize my wardrobe, and I only want to own essentials that are versatile. This and last winter, I found these 2 types of sweaters were my most-worn items. They are definitely my winter staples.
Oversized
I adore a chunky oversized sweater that feels soft and light. It looks chic and effortless to pair with boyfriend jeans or a flair skirt. I literally wear it day in and day out in winter, whether it’s when I’m doing the chores, running errands, or taking a walk in the park, you’d see me in it. I also like to wear it while traveling, it’s so cozy and comfortable. I usually opt for cream and ivory colors as they go well with everything.
Turtleneck & Mock-neck
Can’t make it through winter without a couple of my turtleneck sweaters. My most worn are the black wool mock-neck from Ines De La Fressange x Uniqlo and my Massimo Dutti cream wool blend turtleneck. I also have a couple favorites such as my chunky grey turtleneck from Banana Republic, and another ivory wool one also from Massimo Dutti. Sometimes wool sweaters can be itchy to wear on bare skin, thus, I like to wear a light- thermal or Uniqlo’s Heattech innerwear under the sweater, they also give extra warmth. I like to wear my turtleneck sweaters with a blazer or under a sleeveless winter dress.
