It’s been a year of continuity of learning and soul searching that I started a year ago. A few updates on what’s been happening. I’m still on plant-based meatless diet, it’s been a little more than a year and a half now. I was able to visit a couple of new countries and cities and meet up with my old friends while traveling. It’s been a fulfilling year with lots of growing and adventures. I also got in touch with my adventurous nature side (in terms of traveling) that I was once familiar with.
Cherish the memories
Life is all about moving forward and living in the present, but we all have unpleasant memories that bring us down during our downtime. This year I learned to cherish the good memories with people, pets, situations and things, even if they once hurt me or I got upset over them. I think it’s important to acknowledge the good times we created together. We must accept the fact that people change, things don’t last forever and situations could go bad, so it’s better to focus on the pleasant time, but at the same time learn from our past mistakes.
Live in the moment
Once I accepted the fact that people do change and nothing lasts forever, I find it easier to live in the moment. I get this instant gratitude towards the good time I’m having and the time I’m spending with my loved ones. Living in the moment for me is when I’m aware of how blessed I am, don’t take things for granted, and then being able to enjoy the present moment. In short, it’s about being mindful.
Have a good financial health
I was never good with money. My old hobby was shopping, and I often overspent on fine dining and nights out. It was hard for me to control my spending as I was so used to instant satisfaction. If I wanted to do something or buy something I wouldn’t think twice. Last year I felt the need to organize and learn about my personal finances. I’m not talking about investing money in stocks or doing anything complicated. I just wanted to acquire a good spending habit, learn how to budget and save and spend money only on things that truly matter to me. Getting into a good spending habit and having a good financial health can really alleviate the weight off our shoulders.
Be Grateful
When things are going well for us, we must remember to be grateful. This year I learned that things don’t always go the way we plan, but we must be grateful for the things that are decent in our lives. Being grateful means being content which brings us happiness. I by no means live a life without worries, sadness and anger, but when those days come about I find being grateful for the wonderful experiences and memories helpful in overcome the negativities.
