Kenya has a very special place in my heart as it’s the first country I visited in the African continent, and we also celebrated our second wedding anniversary. It caters to all kinds of budget and travel style one looks for. It’s a place where you’d want to visit again and again. Not only it has so much to offer, the food is also amazing (I can only speak for vegetarian/vegan dishes.) We came here in the end of June and the first of July. Some people might want to come here to see the great migration, but low-season months probably are more pleasant to visit since there’re less traffic in the city and national parks.
Stay
Golden Tulip Westlands Nairobi Hotel: Good safe location and clean spacious rooms. Friendly staff and good value. Nice vegetarian Indian restaurant and rooftop bar.
Hemingways Nairobi: We came here for drinks and dinner, but we fell in love with their service, tranquil environment and the colonial style architecture.
Safari Lodges: We had come across many lodges and accommodation during our safari trip. You can consult your tour company regarding your budget and lodge style. There are plenty you can choose from.
Eat
Marula Mercantile: Located in Karen, this restaurant has a pleasant outdoor environment and tasty vegan/vegetarian options. We came here for lunch and enjoyed our time there.
Vegetarian Planet Restaurant: This vegetarian restaurant is located in the Golden Tulips Hotel Westlands. As vegans, we were eager to try this place as it’s conveniently located for us. We ended us having a memorable dining experience. Their Indian dishes were fresh and authentic. If you’re in this area I highly recommend it.
The Brasserie at Hemingways Nairobi: Have a drink at Hemingways Bar before dinner. Come here if you want to enjoy a fine dining experience in a relaxed environment. It’s worth to mention their beautiful terrace and top notched service.
