Red lipsticks have always been my go-to fashion staple no matter what time of the day it is, if I’m going out 8 out of 10 times I’d wear one of my red lipsticks. In recent years, nude lips have been in trend, even so, red lips can’t seem to be beaten in my opinion. Red lips are just so elegant and timeless. My all time favorites are matte burgundy and classic glossy iconic red. Over the years, I have tried and collected different shades and brands of red lipsticks, here are the ones that I am currently using and love for different reasons.
Power Color
I feel the sexiest and most confident when I’m wearing my bold deep merlot/burgundy color lipsticks and manicure. I call it my power color. Not only they are my essentials for fall and winter, but they are also my formal occasion favorites. This season I have been wearing more of the matte ones, but for my brother’s wedding I wore a merlot shade from Dior Rouge with satin finish.
Timeless Red for Casual Chic
I find the classic iconic red lip color less suitable for my skin tone. However, with so many shade options out there, I was able to find a more subtle match. Since this shade of red tends to look a bit bright on me, thus I like to wear it with my casual looks or dressy outfits to compliment it. My casual looks usually consist of a pair of jeans and a chunky turtleneck sweater, or a blouse and shorts in summer.
Glamour Glam
Finding a right shade of red is like finding a best friend, they are rare but once you find it, you can always rely on them. For a Friday date night I like to opt for an all black outfit whether it’s a suit or dress, I always finish the look with red lips. It makes the look a little more glamorous and mysterious.
