A quick seasonal cleaning is essential when it comes to keeping our living space clutter free. I can always find things that I’m ready to part with when stepping into a new quarter. Some might be the things I’ve forgotten or haven’t used in years, and some might be the things than no longer add value in my current lifestyle. By doing a minor decluttering every season, we don’t have to deal with a major one that’s both time consuming and stressful.
Collectible Items
I own a collection of limited edition Barbies for years. I got my first collectible Barbie from my mom, it was the Vera Wang Barbie. Space is precious when living in NYC, especially when it comes to storage space. Our studio apartment definitely isn’t big enough for storing or displaying our memorabilia. As much as I loved my Barbies, I decided it was time to sell some of them on Ebay. I was glad to see that I was able to sell some for higher prices than I originally bought for. Last weekend I also donated some them and it felt great! All and all, my attempt to reduce the size of my entire collection wasn’t as hard as I thought. The picture above shows a few that I still own and want to keep for now.
Clothing
I managed to find two older items that I’d worn to the core and ready to part with. Recently I also gave away a bag of clothes to my bestie here in NYC as they were still in good condition, and she and I have the same size. Whether you want to sell or give away the clothes you no longer want to wear, it’s always good to go through your closet at the end of each season and do a quick decluttering.
