There things that put me in an instant good mood that I think are worth investing our time and money in. For example, I find afternoon tea quite uplifting. From the beautiful china to delicious tea and desserts, I can’t think of a better way to rejuvenate my day.
Walking
My favorite exercises are yoga, swimming and walking. If I don’t walk outside during the day, I’d go to the gym and fast walk on the treadmill on an incline. I like to listen to music and space out while exercising, it’s definitely my outlet and a way to have a peace of mind that brings me happiness.
Fine cotton intimate-wear, sleepwear, and sheets
They are just more breathable than those made from synthetic fabric. I love intimate-wears from Aubade and Simone Perele, especially their non-padded lace bras and slip-ons, but I find Muji’s organic cotton intimate-wears more comfortable for exercising and sleeping as they are soft, thin and stretchy. As an owner of a sleepwear brand, I love sleeping and lounging in a good set of pajamas. The sophisticated classy Chanel-inspired pajamas are truly a luxury. I like the ones that are made from 100% fine cotton that almost feels like silk but much easier to take care of. Nothing beats a good night sleep.
Books
My favorite book is L’art de la Simplicity by Dominique Loreau. It’s one the books that I can read over and over again. Her writing is calming and inspiring. Other books that are mind stimulating are travel stories such as George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London, or lifestyle books such as Less is More by Naoyuki Honda. Reading is therapeutic and fulfilling, especially when I can learn new things from it. I don’t like to force myself to read when there isn’t anything I’m interested in. Anything forcible could kill the joy.
Aromatherapy
Even though it’s not that often I get to enjoy a lovely day at the spa (especially it’s quite costly in Manhattan,) I love it when our home smelling like a spa. There are different scents that I’d use for different kinds of mood and time of the day. I mainly go for my Muji diffuser as it also works as a humidifier. When taking a bath, I like to use lavender scented bath salts. The scent is relaxing, and soaking in a hot bath helps with releasing our muscle tension. There are also candles and room spray that are great for boosting our mood and the atmosphere.
Flowers
It’s so refreshing to wake up to a house/room with fresh flowers, especially now our furnitures are mainly white, having flowers at home adds warmth to the interior. It also brings life to the household. At home I like to have hydrangea, roses, or tulips as they look full and lively, and they’re easier to arrange in a vase.
